During its Regular Meeting on March 12, 2019, the Governing Board discussed and considered whether to initiate transition from at-large to by-trustee area election of Board members. After hearing a presentation by General Counsel Trevin Sims, the Board unanimously voted to establish a resolution for the 2022 trustee election. At the April 9, 2019 regular meeting, the Board adopted Resolution No. 2072 Declaring the Governing Board’s Intent to Transition from At-Large to By-Trustee Area Governing Board Elections Commencing with the November 2022 Election.
Public participation in the districting process is essential, and this webpage is intended to provide updates on the process, share opportunities for public participation, and provide a way to submit comments and questions.
All aspects of the process for creating trustee areas will be conducted in public.
The 2020 Census was significantly impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Census data informs the districting process and is not expected to be released until last September.
Southwestern College has contracted with Redistricting Partners to support the college’s districting efforts. Follow them on Twitter for the most current updates on the release of 2020 Census data and districting efforts across the nation.
